There are many different ways to drive traffic to your website on the internet. But as the question states, how do you drive “targeted” web traffic? Getting the attention of potential clients searching for your product or services online is anything but easy, but with the right plan and strategy you won’t find yourself spending a whole bunch of cash with no return. Think of it like going to a fitness club, if you go to the gym without a goal or a plan you’ll end up spending a bunch of time with no results and feeling very frustrated. Trust me, we’ve been down that road as well.
In Part 1 of 3 we are going to touch on Search Engine Optimization and the effectiveness of this form of inbound marketing:
Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
Google, Bing, Yahoo… You’re website needs to be recognized by the top search engines if you stand a chance of engaging potential clients. Why SEO is so powerful is because you are reaching individuals that are searching for what you are selling. Unlike outbound marketing tactics like cold calling and door to door sales, SEO gets the attention of clients searching targeted keywords chosen by you. For example, if you sell paper clips you may want to optimize your web presence so that you come up near the front of a web search when someone types in “paper clips”. I’m sure you can see the potential power of SEO but be careful here, SEO is not cheap and there are literally 1000’s of search engine optimization company’s that will promise to get you to the top of the search engines in record time. SEO is a monthly retainer service and requires constant attention. If a potential SEO company only asks for a one time fee that should be a red flag to find another company. Do your research and choose wisely.
